Dr Leela Bose from Bible Society of India has been awarded the Mary Jones Prize for 2016.

She was presented with the award in Philadelphia by James Featherby who is the chair of the Board of Bible Society. The annual prize is given to an individual who is passionately ensuring that the story of Mary Jones is kept alive. Dr Leela Bose grew up with the story of Mary Jones and has been inspired by Mary’s passion for the Bible ever since. She is the President of the Mary Jones Clubs in Andhra Pradesh, India.

The Clubs began in 2004 and by now there are 80 clubs across the Indian state of Andhra Pradesh. The club members study and promote the Bible as well as do charity work such as visiting hospitals and jails.

Huge congratulations to Dr Leela Bose, and sincere thanks that she has done so much to remember the story of Mary Jones. This is the second time the prize has been awarded; it was presented to Mary Thomas in 2015 for all her work on the Mary Jones Walk.

Cyflwynwyd y wobr iddi yn Philadelphia gan James Featherby, Cadeirydd Bwrdd Cymdeithas y Beibl. Cyflwynir y wobr yn flynyddol i unigolyn sy’n ymdrechu’n galed i gadw stori Mary Jones yn fyw. Cafodd Dr Leela Bose ei magu gyda stori Mary Jones ac mae wedi cael ei hysbrydoli gan awch Mary am y Beibl ers hynny. Hi yw Llywydd Clybiau Mary Jones yn Andhra Pradesh, India.

Dechreuodd y clybiau yn 2004 ac erbyn hyn mae 80 o glybiau ar draws talaith Andhra Pradesh. Mae aelodau’r clwb yn astudio ac yn hyrwyddo’r Beibl yn ogystal â gwneud gwaith elusennol megis ymweld ag ysbytai a charchardai.

Llongyfarchiadau mawr i Dr Leela Bose, a diolch am yr holl waith mae wedi gwneud i gofio stori Mary Jones. Dyma’r ail waith mae’r wobr wedi cael ei rhoi; dyfarnwyd y wobr i Mary Thomas yn 2015 am ei gwaith yn llunio taith Mary Jones.
